Hi everyone,
This week we will be writing dialogues between characters in "Teenage Wasteland".
Please work with your partner to create a dialogue between two characters below, based on the situation described:
- You’re Donny, talking to your mother about what is happening to you.
- You’re Amanda, telling your father how you feel about your own life.
- Amanda talking to Donny about her situation.
- Donny talking to Amanda about his situation.
- Donny talking to Cal about his parents.
- Donny talking to a friend at school about what is really going on at Cal's.
- Argument between Daisy and Matt over whose fault it is that Donny is gone, and how to handle things.
- Donny, 3 years later, contacting his mother. Where is he now?

Amanda: Because of your problems, our parents can’t give me a lot of attention to me. Now I began to feel lonely, like I am invisible.
Donny: I don’t think this will affect you like that.
Amanda: You should put more responsibility on your behavior.
Donny: Ok , I will try. And also sorry about that.
Amanda: I am looking forward to hearing from you that you become a student.

(On a Friday Donny goes to Cal’s house)
Cal 2: Hey, Donny how ya doing today?
Donny 1: I’m tired Cal, I’m tired of them... I want this situation to be over.
Cal 2: What’s wrong my friend? Calm down, relax...
Donny 1: I can’t, is always the same... will this ever stop?
Cal 2: Alright, have a sit and relax. If you tell me what happened I might be able to help you my friend.
Donny 1: They called from school and... as usually bad news. Ms. Evans called my mom and complained about my grade.
Cal 2: Oh, so that’s what it is... I was expecting it.
Donny 1: They just believe in what they told them from school..
Cal 2: Oh, okay... but if they really love you, they should listen to your side of the story and try to help you.
Donny 1: You are right Cal, and you know to be honest with you...last couple a days I been thinking to run away from home.
Cal 2: Well, since they don’t really love you and listen to you... that’s not a bad idea.
Donny 1: But anyway where would I go? Forget it.
Cal 2: No Donny, you have Miriam now... You guys can help each other, work on your own life and maybe have a better life in the future. I don’t know Donny, I just want the best for you.
Donny 1: You are right, maybe we should try that... I’ll talk to her when I see her tonight and I’ll let you know what we decided.
Cal 2: Alright, please don’t do anything without letting me know first. I don’t want you to get into troubles.
Donny 1: Ok Cal, thanks for your time and your listening. You are the only one I can trust, only you and Miriam.
Cal 2: You welcome Buddy, see you soon.
(Donny talks to Miriam about his and Cal’s idea of new life, and she agrees. A week after they ran away from house without letting anyone know but Cal. Donny’s parents were searching for him and trying their best in order to find him but it didn’t help. Today Donny has a job and lives better life than before.)

Donny: They don’t want to understand me, they are just old schools hypocrites.
Amanda: Thanks god they’re not here to listen to what you’re saying.
Donny: I just can’t stand all this pressure they put over me. They wanna control every second in my life and they don’t let me be. It seems like they’re supervising a criminal inside their house. I feel like I’m their enemy . And just to advise you, they might do it to you later.
Amanda: How dare you say that!
Donny: Someday you’ll understand me and what I’m talking about. But that might be too late.

Donny: I’m really sorry Mom about what i did. I didn’t mean to hurt anybody.
Daisy: Promise me You won’t smoke or skip classes again.
Donny: I promise mom that I’ll change .
Daisy: From now on, we have to communicate with each other so you don’t make the same mistake again.
Donny: All right Mom.. Thank you for understanding me .

3 hours later Matt is back home.

Amanda.I feel really isolate from you and mom.I feel like invisible.Can you do something for me to stop feeling this way?
Matt:Look honey I understand you.Everything is like that because of your brother Donny.Your mother is trying to change him.I’m working the whole day because we need to have money to live.
Amanda:But it doesn’t mean you have to forget about me and ignore me all the time.You can spend a little time with me like now .. after you finish your work..

Cal: what the hell are you talking about? I have to teach you because your parent told me to do that, even though you are excepting me or not. I don’t care about it.\
Donny: If you start to teach me then i will cut all of my classes because I don’t want to study.
Cal: That’s totally your choice but you have to study otherwise you are not going to have a bright future.
Donny: That’s true but when I go to class, i can’t pay attention to the teacher because that is boring for me.

Donny: If you start to teach me then i will cut all of my classes because I don’t want to study.
Cal: That’s totally your choice but you have to study otherwise you are not going to have a bright future.
Donny: That’s true but when I go to class, i can’t pay attention to the teacher because that is boring for me.
Cal: I know that life is boring but you have to study to have a better future. Ain’t you?
Donny: Well, I am going to try to do better in school but I need you to help me .
Cal: Of course. I am here to help you. Maybe we can work together! What do you think?Donny: I think it is a good idea because you are a tutor and you have more experience.

FATHER: OOHH! sweety do not be like that, your mom love you and she wants to help you too, but you have to understand that she has to work and care of you brother because he has several problems.
AMANDA: I understand dad !!!!! but i need attenction from her , she is my mom too, i need her advice, her time, her helps and heerrrr........ ( amanda crying and she feels distroyed)
FATHER: Amanda i can help you! i am your father too don’t be sad my little girl.
AMANDA: No nooo!!! you don’t understand that i need my mom, she always was with donny not with me. she does not have time to listen my problems, my all friends talks with their mom’s. i saw my best friend with her mom and her mom always go everywhere with her. when she has some problems her mom is always there.
FATHER; i can understand your sadness honey, but she has to do lots of works my little girl you mom has to cook , clean up everyday, wake up early for you and your bother, and go to the laundry.
AMANDA: you see dad! where i am on her life you are telling me that she has to cook, she has this, she has to do that and me where i am! that is my question dad! ( she is sighing very sad.)
FATHER: ( father is confusing and feeling because Amanda is correct … )
AMANDA: Daddy! spend the all day with me today. please i just need love and attention.... can we go somewhere? pleasee dad!!
