I believe that the decision is unjust, but unavoidable because Rahim chose Shabanu to get married because he got in love with her, also because as Phulan was prepare to get married so, Shabanu’s parents chose Murad to married with Phulan because Hamir was killed by Nazir and she got sad, but when she saw Murad that is really handsome she chose Murad to get married. The person who won was Phulan because her parents chose Murad to get married with her and the person who lost was Shabanu because her parent decided to married her with Rahim and she can not do anything.

I feel most empathy for shabanu because I understand her feelings for not be free because she can not say what is she thinking about any decision her parents take care over her and I my life is like her life because I have to quiet everything about my family say to me or decided for me and I can not say anything because I will be like the bad girls of the family and for that I feel more empathy for Shabanu because she can say what are her thoughts and nobody asks her if she is agree with the decision. In page 188 the quote “ Shabanu really. What we decide for both of you is what you will do. You aren’t old enough to know what is good for you.” supports my ideas.

Shabanu finally revealed in front of her parents saying that she is not happy with the decision that they made for her, she doesn’t want to get married with Rahim, and that she love Murad who is her real love and she wants to get married with him. Dadi and Mama heard her reasons and they decided that the best thing is that make Shabanu happy and they decide to married Murad with Shabanu when Shabanu get 13 years old, and that for Phulan will get married with Rahim and they will happy forever THE END.
Why Phulan with Rahim ehehehe ? ... I'm ok with that of Shabanu with Murad , but .. Phulan with that old ghost no..

The decision was unavoidable ,as Hamir was Phulan’s future husband , but he died now things had to change .Shabanu wanted to marry Murad because as Shabanu said they were meant to each other and now she feels sad because she needs to marry Rahim .Now the problem is that she doesn’t love Rahim and she doesn’t trust him .Another problem is that if Shabanu doesn’t marry Rahim her family will loss the land .Another problem is that they might be injured , get in trouble or killed if Shabanu doesn’t marry him .Also that Rahim already has three wives , and that is kind of …. and also he is much more older than Shabanu like to be her grandfather .She doesn’t want to marry a old man , thats unfair and there is no love , everything is against her now .Her life would be so miserable living with this old ghost with his wives .

I can understand much more Shabanu’s feelings .Because she wants the best things for her family , but also she doesn’t want to live with somebody for whom she will be just one more , she wants to be loved for who she loves and be near that person and share their lives until the end .
Quote : ‘ “Phulan will marry Murad. He is old enough and ready to be married , He will be a good husband to her.”
He was meant for me , I want to shout, Phulan’s husband was Hamir! He was just like her , and Murad is like me. We are meant for each other. My ears burn and my throat tightens, but I sit perfectly still, staring at my hand folded in my lap . I can’t look at Phulan. who also sits perfectly still.”On pages 190-191.

I would like to see Shabanu living with Murad with happiness and with three children .Her family living next to her with a good amount of land for them .Just appreciating the vista of a their garden and land .

They need to think carefully to make this decision for her.They decided that they will make Shabanu marry with Rahim. It is a terrible decision for Shabanu because she didn’t love Rahim. If Shabanu didn’t do it then her family will be in d anger. So, they didn’t have anymore choice.

-On page 191, “No!” I say softly at first “No! No!” Mama and Phulan take me into their arms. I fight them. “I won’t do it!”
-I think I understand her because to marry with someone you didn’t love, will never make you happy.

-My new ending would be that they will never met Nazir Mohammad in their life. At the wedding day of Phulan and Hamir, everyone were celebrate and have fun at the ceremony. After a year, Shabanu will have to marry Murad, and they love each other. In the wedding day,
Murad brought gift for her which is Guluband, she was really happy and love him so much. Time past, both Shabanu and Phulan had give a birth to their sons. And, they live in a happy life.

Answer: In this chapter justice as we can see they are all having a family meeting. Everyone one is busy at making decision about Shabau’s wedding. Meanwhile they also has planned to set arranged marriage with Murad and Phulan. I think to making this decision for them was not a good things to do because first of all Phulan is not old enough to know things about herself weather its right or wrong. I believe that setting marriage with Rahim will not be a good one for shabanu because is his a child abuser. he already have 3 wife and now he is getting ready to marry again. If shabanu marry this man she will be a slave in many way. I think as a nomadic lifestyle Shabanu’s family could moved to another safe place.

Answer: I liked the way Shabanu’s mom see her daughters because she is soo happy to having kids like shabanu and Puhlan.(page:3) “ You and Phulan are better than 7 sons.” This show us that mother is being compassion about her 2 daughters she has no excuse to raising daughters like that. she is happy to foster them and guide them in right way.

Answer: i think Shabanu will have to marry Rahim and Phulan with Murad and they will be fine overall these obstacles. in the other hand their parents will be happy to live in the same land where they want to. And finally Phulan and Shabau will have children and their parents will love to play with grandchildren.

Because the problem will happen is because of Shabanu if she didn’t drop the water on Nazir’s head then he won’t get angry to chase them to death and kill Hamir. And if they don't marry Shabanu to Rahim then Nazir will keep chase them and kill them.Rahim is fifty year old and Shabanu is still young if she marry to Rahim then her life will end terribly but she can be very rich and have children to grow, she can get herself some things to do. So i think the decision is unjust and unavoidable. At all the one who made all these things happen is herself.
ReplyDeleteMy most understanding character is Nazir because i used to have dream about have the power to do anything to eliminate anyone I don't like and play with lots of women that he had did.Shabanu drop water on his head he feel very angry because there are no one dare to revolt him and Shabanu just did that and if its me and i have such power i’ll get angry too and let my men to hunt them.
At end Shabanu have married with Rahim because that she have did, she do this in order to protect her family not harm by Nazir and get her life rich to rise others.

I believe that the decision that Mama, Dadi and BIli lal make about shabanu’s future is injustice because although shabanu doesn’ wanted to get married at certain point of the story she was happy of the idea to get married whit Murad. I think it was a difficult decision for them but I disagree because with this decision it looks like it was shabanu’s fault but it wasn't. I think the one who win is pulan because anyway she is getting married with an appropriate man for her and the one who lose is Shabanu because the man who she loves is getting married with her sister Phuland.

SHANANU :I feel the most empathy with Shabanu because she is a young girl and to get in the idea that she is getting married with Murad was a little difficult, but now when she is getting in to the idea to get married everything change. Pg 190 Shabanu says “ he was meant for me, i want to shout. Phulan’s husband was hamir! he was just like her, and Muras is like me. we are meant for each other.” I can feels Shabanu’s feelings she was happy with the idea to get married with Murad and now she has to get married with Rahim and accept that Phuland will be Murad’s wife.
SHARMA: I feel empathy with sharma because she was the only one disagreed with the decision because she knows what shabanu wants for her future. Pg 204 “So you’ve paid for all this with your little Shabanu.” I agree wit shamar shabanu doesn’t have to paid for all because that decision is ruining her future.
3. the perfect ending for this story will be that Phulad decides to not get married with Murad because she knows Shabanu is suffering and that Rahim dies the day of the wedding so shabanu can get married with Murad, Phuland leaved their home and stay with sharma.

ReplyDeleteYes, I think that decision is unjust but they have no choice, it’s unavoidable. Because Shabanu was splashing water on Nazir Mohammad. That cause Hamir has been killed, and make her family get in a difficult situation which is Phulan have to marry Murad, he was Shabanu’s Fiancé. And Shabanu have to marry Rahim, Nazir Mohammad’s older brother and she really doesn’t wants to. But they have no choice, if not they very in big dangerous. Shabanu and her family all loses, Nazir Mohammad and his older brother wins.

That I was feel which is that in my family we have some problem, some difficult situation, that make us have to give in even we really don’t want to and feel so sad about it. But we have on choice. We have to do. In book page ”I’II go to live with Sharma,” I say, and Mama’s slap sends my head flying and my eyes reeling.” That quote shows then the same feeling that I have had.

I think as shabanu was in love with Murad and she want to marry with him, so she can to marry with murad, and also she is more little that Phulan. I think that as Phulan is more old that shabanu and she should marry with the old man. If this happen the winner going to be shabanu because she going to marry with the man that she love and not with the old man that could be his Grandfather. In this the decision the loser going to be Phulan because she going to marry with a old man like her Grandfather and that not good. 3. shabanu came into the temple, wearing the most beautiful dress and Rahim wearing his most expensive clothes and luxuries. soon we hear the sound of wedding ceremonies. shabanu’s long face demonstrate her sadness. she is alrwady married to an old man who she doesnt love.

Dadi makes a just decision, he wants to protect his family, so he makes this decision, but I think it is unjust but unavoidable, because it is unfair for Shababu, she loves Murad but he will get marry with Phulan. She needs to get marry with a old man who is old enough to be her grandfather, and the old man already had three wives, so she didn’t want to get marry with him, but if she don’t do it, her family will be dangerous, because Nazir Mohammed will let them out of the land, so it is an unjust decision but Shabanu can not avoid it. Rahim wins, because he will gets Shabanu, and Shabanu loses, because she needs to get married with a old man that she didn’t love.

I believe the decision is unjust but unavoidable because of from this chapter, “ Justice”. Shabanu’s parents make a decision that Shabanu will marry the Nazir Mohamma’s brother, Rahim-sahib. Phulan will marry Murad. Nazir has promise that quit the Murad’s land and irrigation canals. This plan that prove this event is true. The plan is not plan that Shabanu will marry Murad when she comes of age. Phulan and Murad are good people who obey the adults. Therefore, Shabanu has been sacrificed to save them. It is good for either family and it is good choice for both family. Dadi and Mama win, and Shabanu loses.

I feel the most empathy is Shabanu. I understand the her feeling synchronously. She really love Murad, and dreams that will marry him. But for the either family, she must marry Rahim that in order to both family peace. She broke Murad’s heart suddenly. It is from big climax to the low point. It was a strong storm for Shabanu and it is unpredictable that what happened when she is growing older. If Murad marry Shabanu, then he will regret because of Hamir won’t forget them even though he died. It is selfish love. I am thinking they could not get their own happiness. How about the Phulan ? Hamir love her, and he does not want her that is alone. Murad also can not bear this thing. On page 209, she says；“ You said there was a choice, I say calmly, for my heart is thrashing inside my breast, and my mind is a confused jumble of fear, rebellion, pleasure, and curiosity.”

Dadi hears that Shabaanu period begins from mama, he is angry that she has hidden the fact from them. Mama is explaining to him that she wants change something by herself. Shabanu make a dicision that run away. She takes some of Dadi’s clothes, and dresses as a man, flattening her chest with a cloth and hiding her hair in a turban. Dadi appears at the top of dune when she goes away. He beats her badly and complain her why does she do the foolish way. She repeats the Sharma’s words to herself. Finally, Dadi and Shabanu come back at the home.

I think that decision is unjust , Shabana still is a girl ,she younger and does not know many things ,and Rahim already has four wifes , maybe he loves Shabanu now, but how about later,or when he was not at home ,what will his wifes do to her.It is not fair to Shabanu.Facing to the problem is if she does not marry to Rahim and they will lose land and Nazir will take Phulan away,so it also is unavoidable.Dadi made the decision because he wants to protect the families,so he had to do that. Shabanu is loses because she can not disobeyed her father even she want ,it is not work to they ,and her parents are win.

Shabanu is the character that i feel the most empathy of. sometime we have same ,and i can understand what she feelings . when i read about her parents made decision for her and never mind about her feeling and thinking , i met same things as her met . i do not think that parents can all time make decision for us. they just thinks what they did were be right all the time ,but we are young so we can not make decision for ourselves. i think the shabanu is most empathy, i think i can understand her because her parents wants to phulan marry to murad eventhough shabanu love to murad. they just think about what is good for this family, not just shabanu. in page 188, mama said “shabanu, really. what we decide for both for you of you what you will do. you aren’t old enough to know what good for you.” this quote shows us that the shabanu’s mother just wants to shabanu listen to her, she thinks it’s good for shabanu, and she doesn’t care about what shabanu want to do.

ReplyDeleteThis decision is unjust but unavoidable because they don’t have choice, after Shabanu throw the water to the Nazri mohammad, that makes Hamir died and then Phulan will marry with Murad which suppose to marry with Shabanu. Also Shabanu should marry with Rahim which was fifty. So if there is justice then those things will not happen , in the end they make the decision that they think is right.

Shabanu is definitely not happy with it, and so was Phulan. Shabanu is devastated not only because the man she loves and is supposed to marry will marry her sister, but also because now she also has to marry an old man who is almost three times her age and has many wives already. There was one time that my mother gave my sister something that I wanted so badly. On page 190, Shabanu says, “He was meant for me, I want to shout. Phulan’s husband was Hamir! He was just like her, and Murad is like me. We are meant for each other.” This quote shows that Phulan got what Shabanu wants.

I feel the most empathy is Shabanu. I understand the her feeling synchronously. She really love Murad, and dreams that will marry him. But for the either family, she must marry Rahim that in order to both family peace. She broke Murad’s heart suddenly. It is from big climax to the low point. It was a strong storm for Shabanu and it is unpredictable that what happened when she is growing older. If Murad marry Shabanu, then he will regret because of Hamir won’t forget them even though he died. It is selfish love. I am thinking they could not get their own happiness. How about the Phulan ? Hamir love her, and he does not want her that is alone. Murad also can not bear this thing. ReplyDelete1. The title of one chapter in this section is “Justice.” Is the decision which Dadi, Mama and Bibi Lal make a just decision? Select one of the four options listed below. Write a simple paragraph (approximately 6 – 12 sentences) in which you support your position.
I believe Mama makes an unjust decision to Shabanu. She wants Phulan to marry Murad. Phulan doesn’t agree with her. Other way, Shabanu is worried about it. She cares about something what they say. She wants to hear and understand it. She is serious. We can see this in the quote on page 193 ,”Shabanu,”she says, her face harder than I’ve ever seen it before, “you are to say nothing more. It is done.” This shows that Shabanu would not have chance to change anything. She is going to live with Sharma and talk to her. She is hopeless and she is losing her lover, Murad.
2. For which character do you feel the most empathy – that is whose emotions or feelings did you understand the best and care about the most? Why? Find quotes that support your ideas.
I feel Shabanu is the most empathy character. She is miserable. Phulan grabs her lover, she would marry Nazir. She is sad and do not have chance to change it. We can this in the quote on page 197,” Put it on!” says Phulan. I look up at her, and her eyes shine with happiness for me. I am miserable.” This shows that Shabanu is so sad when Phulan getting marry with Murad. She knows she does not have chance to do, but she still missing Murad. Even though Murad marries with Phulan. Shabanu would talk something sweety with Murad. She hates phulan. In her mind, she is going to kill her.
3. Write your own ending to the story.
At the end, Shabanu will marry Nazir. Phulan marries Murad. Shabanu still connects with Murad. She does not marry with Murad. Her life is cruel. She would have a dangerous, black skies life in the future.

“ End Of The Book Response”
1. I believe that the decision of the adults are unjust but unavoidable. Because the problem will happen is because of Shabanu if she didn’t drop the water on Nazir’s head then he won’t get angry to chase them to death and kill Hamir. And if they don't marry Shabanu to Rahim then Nazir will keep chase them and kill them.Rahim is fifty year old and Shabanu is still young if she marry to Rahim then her life will end terribly but she can be very rich and have children to grow, she can get herself some things to do. So i think the decision is unjust and unavoidable. At all the one who made all these things happen is herself.
2. I Feel Empathy with because Shabanu’s feelings .Because she wants the best things for her family , but also she doesn’t want to live with somebody for whom she will be just one more , she wants to be loved for who she loves and be near that person and share their lives until the ended.
“Phulan will marry Murad. He is old enough and ready to be married , He will be a good husband to her.”
He was meant for me , I want to shout, Phulan’s husband was Hamir! He was just like her , and Murad is like me. We are meant for each other. My ears burn and my throat tightens, but I sit perfectly still, staring at my hand folded in my lap . I can’t look at Phulan. who also sits perfectly still.”On pages 190-191.\
3. The end for this story will be good because have a feeling about this story that
tell that Shabanu and Murad will be together and Mama and Dadi will going t o understand Shabanu and let her to make her own decisions and let her to be happy with Murad … and when that happen Shabanu will feel the daughter of the win because she is going to be free to make her own decisions.

I believe the decision is unjust. Because Shabanu should has freedom to choose what she wants. It is her life, no her mother or father or sister’s life. She should not married with a fifth years old man. She is so younger than her sister. She has right to be happy to live with someone who is her loves. Shabanu should be win.
2.I feel most empathy for shabanu because I understand her feelings from this quote on page 216,” I am ashamed of my anger that it is Phulan and not me sitting amid our relatives accepting advice on marrying Murad. But I mustn’t feel sorry for myself. I press my shoulder blades together and lift my head.” Because sometime I feel anger but I would rather to hidden my feeling. Also I feel sorry for myself.
3.In the end, Shabanu no get married with old man. She get married with Murad. Shabanu and Murad are happiness. They have children. And Phulan get married with old man. Phulan would be rich and never worry about money.

I think the decision was unfair and unavoidable to Shabanu because her mom chose this decision.Why Shabanu have to obey with her family when she liked wind.Also,she liked Murad but finally she needed to marry other people.It was so unjust for Shabanu because she didn’t want to marry the old man.Even though the old man could give her family a land that make her didn’t have any choice.

I feel the most empathy with Shabanu because she liked Murad but she could tolerate her sister marry with her love. It is so unbelievable for me.We can see this Quote : ‘ “Phulan will marry Murad. He is old enough and ready to be married , He will be a good husband to her.” I think this is so unfair to Shabanu and she was so young.She must be so sad and feel hurt.
3. Write your own ending to the story.
I want Shabanu with her love and Phulan can find other person. They can change their life to be better.
l) I think the decision is unjust but unavoidable. why it is unjust because shabanu is a little girl, and she never nothing about how to make a good relationship with others. and rahim, he is a old man and he had many wives already. if shabanu married with him.how she to make a relationship with his wives .and it also is unavoidable because if shabanu doesn´t marry with rahim. there is a big trouble in her family . nazir mohammad will take their lands and he also take phulan away. and dadi is a man who put his family in first, he have to protect his family in many ways.so they have to decision shabanu marry with the old man to make sure their family everything would be all right.
ReplyDelete2)i feel the most empathy is shabanu because just because she is not old enough so her parents make all decision for her and her has not right to control her life. i very understand this feelings ours parents do it too and often.on page 188 they said:shabanu,really. what we decide for both of you is what you will do. you are not old enough to know what is good for you.
3)in the end of the story shabanu does not marry with rahim. she and her sister, phulan they find their loves and marry with them. and their parent do not make decision for them.just giving some advice for them. and now they can do everything them what.

I think their decision is just for their family, but it is unjust for Shabanu. Because Shabanu doesn’t want to marry with Rahim. But even if she refuses their decision, she also can’t avoid it. Because they need to protect their family and land. If Shabanu refuses to marry with Rahim, they will be lost their land to Nazir. But Rahim is very old enough to be her grandfather, and she loves Murad. Even though let Shabanu marry with Rahim is unjust for her, but she must be obey their decision. Because it is good for her family.

I feel most empathy with Shababu, because her parents make an unjust decision for her, and don’t care her feeling, even if she refuses their decision. On page 193, “I’II go to live with Sharma,’I say, and Mama’s slap sends my head flying and my eyes reeling. ‘ Shabanu,’ she says, her face harder than I’ve ever seen it before, ‘you are to say nothing more. It is done.” This quote shows us Shabanu didn’t want to marry with Rahim, and she wanted to leave her home, but her mother disagree and her slap Shabanu.
3. Phulan married with Murad. Shabanu didn’t want to get marry with Rahim, so she suicided. Rahim feels very angry about that, so Shabanu’s family lost their land again. Murad divorced with Phulan when he knew Shabanu was dead.
